Tmassey's thread inquiring about Fort Lauderdale / Pompano dive ops spurred a trip with Capt. Conrad on the Miss Conduct http://missconduct.tripod.com/
I believe Tim went out on the Miss Conduct for the entire weekend but I'll stick to discussing the trip I joined him for.
We had an 830 show / 9am go time and we left right on time. I'll also point out the city of Pompano has installed upgraded toll machines in the parking lot that take credit cards which is a big improvement over hoping the machine liked your dollar bills.
Seas were a nice 2' or less, water temp was 72-73, air temps were in the high 70s, and viz varied from 25' to maybe 50'. Also onboard were three other local friends.
Our first dive was the Capt. Dan wreck. We started with a perimeter tour outside the wreck at the sand. After a full circle, we swam up the stern section and went forward halfway down the starboard corridor and turned into the open engine room. From there, we exited out from the same doorway and swam to the upper section of the fo'c'sle and down the stairs and into cargo hold, then up and to the rear where we checked the wheelhouse some more. At this point, we were nearing NDLs and we shot a bouquet of liftbags.
After about an hour of SI, we hit the backside of the second reef in 65-75' looking to help remove the unsightly crustaceans from the reef. We succeeded in the removal of all five that were encountered.
All in all, it was a great day of diving.
