I agree it is not a bad thing, never said it was bad, just didn'd understand where it is like an isolated course since it is a trimix gas, some how you will cover it in the trimix course or not ?

It just allows the use of a little bit of helium for the dives between AN/DP and doing the real Trimix course. Here the addition cost is very small so it is an obvious choice. If a diver takes a while to get round to the next course then they have the advantage of a clearer head.

The helium specific part of these courses is not a lot of time, the real work is about dealing with the challenges of being deeper, stage handling, gas switching, coping with failures and the rest of it.

It is just a different blend and there is no reason why it cannot be covered in a trimix course. This is just another underwater basket weaving course.

Except that is backwards. This is an optional part of a course done before normoxic trimix. Obviously anyone who does AN/DP and not the Helitrox version but goes on to a normoxic trimix can dive a 20% helium mix.

This isn't a standalone trimix 'lite' course, it is a deco course with extra mild trimix. Here it costs an extra £30 plus a fill. You can hardly pay for the willow for that money.

extra mild trimix.

Is this a joke? It is extra mild but it is not trimix lite? Do you take a different nitrox course for every different nitrox blend you use? Do people actually believe this BS?

Air is air and people do OW, AOW, etc... It's not just the breathing mix, it's all the needed skills, depth certification and equipment needs.

Maybe you need to read the course descriptions. On the one hand hand a course which teaches deco diving with some helium. On the other a course which teaches deeper trimix to people who have ALREADY learned deco diving.

One is a 45m single stage course, the other 60m two stages course. Of course a trimix diver could use 18/35 for the 45m dive rather than 25/20 but the mix is not the point, the depth and complexity is the thing. The progression is 45m then 60m. Helitrox at the 45m level simply gives a diver some more options to avoid being so narc'd.

This still seems silly to me. You use different blends of nitrox for different reasons but you do not take a separate course for each use. This is just a cost saving measure to begin with, you do not NEED trimix until you get to 430ft.

Can you just stop?

You must be smoking crack.

Trimix only real use is to reduce or eliminate the effects of HPNS in saturation divers. Read it for yourself genius. Military: US Navy Diving Manual (6th Edition) You use a higher percent of nitrogen then is needed only to reduce the cost of a fill vs heliox and you think it sounds impressive when you tell people you dive trimix.
