Guys
As an introduction to reg maintenance, I've got a Mk10 on its way to me.
To remove the HP cap, what size pins does the pin spanner need?
Also what size of C spanner is appropriate for this reg body?
If it's in good nick, I might get some other tools in order to service it properly. Just need to strip it down first.
Cheers 🍻
Thanks.

0.24“ hook/C spanner
2.3mm pin for HP seat carrier

Great 1st stage, and great one to start practicing on

You might wanna get some micromesh amd a cheap usb microscope to learn restoring the piston knife edge

A piston bullet is also quite nice, and for all the SP pistons (not the mk2 obviously)

The toughest part is the captured Hp piston oring — esp if you don’t have a double hook pick

The most useful tools I have found to be a Body Holder and a Vice. Then the usual assortment of high quality allen keys (metric and sae), brass pick, brass wire brushes, and crescent wrenches. You can do the job without a bench mounted vice, but you'll have a much easier time with one.

Get a Body Holder, C-Spanner, and IP Guage from DiveGearExpress or similar regional shop.

If you develop a taste for it; here’s your next „step“ prep ;)

I believe the curve diameter of the c spanner should match the reg body. What size? I've seen a bunch of different sizes.
🙂

I think it has the label #3
The diameter of the cap is ~32mm

I use the small side of this tool; the big one is for mk20/25 sized regs
Here is how the fit looks

I also padded it with some adhesive fabric to keep it from marring the chrome

SP makes a multi tool that has everything you need for these older 1st stages.

+1

I use only two specialized tools when working on my Mk 10's. One is a "Scubapro Tool" (see Scuba Tools - Scubapro®, for example; I've had mine, a brass "Peter Built" SP Tool, since the late 1980's). And the other is a thin piece of brass rod whose end I shaped to form into a pick or hook used to pry out that little HP O-ring that the piston shaft passes through.

Have fun!
