I had never considered doing my own service when I used the Poseidon. I may look into doing my own repairs in the future. For now I plan on lettin the LDS handel it for about $60 in labor and free parts, as compared to doing it myself and spending about half that much on buying the parts. But it is nice to know that the option is there.

I think a lot of us who work on our own regs do it because we simply enjoy it (I find it relaxing).

In many cases there is not much of a cost savings (if you factor in the initial cost of tools and gauges and parts), but for me there is a HUGE amount of satisfaction (and comfort in knowing that the job was done properly).

If you do decide to come over to the "dark side", this forum and the DIY forum has a lot of knowledgable folks (not me!) who can help steer you in the right direction.

Best wishes.

Zeagle flathead 7, I have gone from Apeks to Zeagle regs and won't go back, they are better value and as good in the quality side of the equation, I think Aqualung has misstepped with Apeks moving them way up market above the regular Aqualung line and eating lots of business, during and before the recession.

I like the mouth pieces also and have several in my save a dive kit and have them on all my regs.
