Why are all these people thumbing the dive before they even get wet?

They probably look at eachother and think "hell, these people look like theire high on something, better not get in with them" :p

They read a DCBC training thread and they know they'll die if they don't? :D

They learned that Kermit had perfected the frog kick on a recent course and he was extolling the virtues of the course to other like minded people :)

Because thay are not at a busy intersection pointing at the sky.

And why are they all so happy about doing so?

:rofl3:

In all seriousness, probably because someone at PADI made an on-line media buy that included creative execution - which was obviously done by someone who knows nothing about diving, using "royalty free" stock photography.

I have clients that do this all the time. They don't want to pay my interactive team's rates to create their banner ads, so they get them done "on the cheap" by some online media company... and then end up paying my interactive team's rates to FIX their banner ads.

Strategically, the better question is why is PADI paying their on-line agency to run an ad for DSD's on ScubaBoard (based on image url) unless they have a desire to get someone like me to do a DSD after 400 dives. Again, paying someone who knows nothing about your product, or your customer to do your advertising is a bad idea. Dumb targeting + Dumb creative = New Agency.

Note to PADI - PM if you're looking for a new agency...

:D
