Hey guys im going for my AOW over spring break and am going to buy all my own gear too. I just wanted to get some experienced opinions on the gear im leaning towards for a novice diver.

SeaQuest Latitude XLT BCD
AquaLung Legned ACD Reg and Octo
Suunto Cobra DC w/ Air Integration, Nitrox, Compass, Quick Disconnect

I already have my snork, fins, 3-2mm suit from the basic package the LDS gives students and dont even no what those are. Anyways... thoughts??

Great computer and great reg. Haven't tried the BC, but it looks like a nice jacket style BC. I have tried the Balance, and have admired the Black Diamond.

I prefer a back inflate BC because it makes it easier for me to maintain good trim and a horizontal position underwater, and allows for more freedom of movement.
You might look into The Balance or Black Diamond.

Have fun with Advanced Open Water. I would recommend reading the entire book, regardless of the dives that you do in addition to Deep and U/W Navigation. It broadens your knowledge and is interesting.

thanks for the advice. i liked the idea of back inflate but all the LDS had was a fusion and since it went out of production i dont no how reliable service could be. i dont want to buy a bc online that i havent tried on yet either cuz im tall lanky and skinny and commonly well appaised bc's like the nighthawk just felt uncomfortable.

Hi there!

I have the same computer and it works great so far. I don't know much about the reg.
I would try to rent or borrow a few different bc's before you make that difficult choice between jacket style or rear inflation. Make sure you get the one that is most comfortable for you.

The BC you chose looks really nice!
I know quite a few DMs with 9,000 to 12,000 dives under their belts who only use jacket style BCs and really enjoy them. Its smart to try the gear on before you buy, and I'm sure your LDS will treat you well and be able to service all of your Aqualung/Seaquest/Suunto gear when you need it.

thanks for the input.... i have heard tales of leaking in the cobra when the disconnect was installed, none of that for u?

awesome thanks
