I did a cave dive a while back with a guy who has a damaged ankle. His kicks were very strange to me, but did not silt me me out either. I will try to describe it. He would be doing a somewhat normal flutter kick with very short strokes, but his fins were not moving up and down they were going almost sideways.
 
Given your dive count, maybe your sense of frustration is somewhat premature. Most able-bodied divers still struggle with buoyancy, trim and propulsion to varying degrees around that level of experience.

It's possible to fin with a single leg. It's also possible to sort out balance issues. But it comes with experience in the water. You might want to investigate and trial different fin types though...these can have an impact. Check out Force Fins...
 
Well, first off, that is pretty awesome. Is that you in the video?

I don't know what sort of advice I can offer over the internet, but I do have a question... Is the leg more or less neutral in the water?
