I'd never be in a vertical position -- it's too uncomfortable, cold, affects diving, can't move around using fins... -- so can't help you with the gas consumption I'm afraid.

I invite you to come dive with me in Asia in warm water where you don't even need a wetsuit. It's so comfortable. Raja Ampat awaits you I'm going there in October. Dive op only has 21% no nitrox but the dives are shallow water in the sunshine.

The test : oxygen consumption by a diver in a horizontal vs a vertical position

Any particular reason to be using oxygen for the test? Air would help keep the costs down on the study.

Trim of a DM staff member at Savedra Dive Center in Moalboal Cebu Philippines...

They train them well from OW to DM....

A thing of beauty. No hand sculling, just the lazy flip of a fin here and there.

Yeah the IDC Course director I knew before she became an instructor. Sevedra Dive Center offer a work training program for people where the dive shop sponors the courses. So staff start working at the dive shop filling tanks helping customers get their gear to the dive boats then start from OW and are trained to DM and the exceptions ones can get their instructor course sponsored as well. So they stay on as working professionals.

Yeah so this was my DM and when he wasn;t looking I took this video. Gave it to the DM as well. He was a lot of fun out of the water as well.
