Perfect trim is parallel to the plane in which you are travelling
 
I hate that restricted view and get a sore neck from being in the "perfect trim" position so many think I should have.
That "perfect trim" is important only if you are swimming against high current,
or if you want to avoid stirring up bottom sediment.

That is hardly a perfect trim! Your vertical legs will induce drag! Please keep them straight back!
Things change, however, if the bottom is muddy.
 
Now tell us how you do a back kick from that position, or a helicopter turn?
 
I heard it somewhere that 2-prop boats can do the equivalent of a helicopter turn without bending their prop shafts 90 degrees. Amazing, that.
