Natasha:
I just got back from seeing the movie. Not as good as I expected it to be with all the hype. Oh well.

I don't want to get too deep into my religion or Pug might pull my post.

I'll just say this, I believe Jesus is about Love. I wish the movie would have shown more the life of Jesus when he walked the earth, then the violence of his death.

But, I guess violence sells.. and love doesn't..? anyway only my take on it..
Mel Gibbson's Hollywood..version was a disappointment.

I'm seeing the movie tomorrow night, I'm looking forward to it.

Just watch the news on TV or read the Paper - something bad happens - front page, top story, headline news!! Something special happens - "fluff section."
Speaking of which - I'm gonna go post a positive story in the women's forum....

I think John Lennon had it right with "Imagine"...........
I used to think that, but now I think he was sadly mistaken....

The movie was about the last twelve hours of his life. For many people, this reminds everyone very graphically what Jesus went thru for us, and it is a profound showing of his love. I also think that many people read the bible, and never fully understand crucifixion, and scourging (the two most painful tortures that Jesus was sentenced to). This gives you a very accurate depiction of what that was like for someone enduring it.

I thought it was a great film...
I also believe it was a pretty accurate portrayal of what happened.

Trust me, I don't want to argue. I do think the last 12 hours of the Lord's life, was a profound showing of his love.

I do not believe it's an accurate portrayal of his death.

But, I do not want to start quoting scriptures here..so I will just say that is my belief and mine only.

I believe Love is of God and he that loveth is born of God and knoweth God..and I think Jesus would have rather had that shown in a movie about himself, then the one Mel made.

As I said this is just me..my HO..nothing more. I'm not a pastor, or priest, or rabbi.. just a sinner trying hard to love my enemies even though it's not easy.

I have not seen the movie yet and don't know if I will or not. I'm not religious so, the film does not interest me in that respect. I do however enjoy films set in ancient times and like movies with subtitles. All the hype concerning the film turns me off more than anything.

The use of the language was what I did like about the movie. I liked that Jesus was called Yeshua his Hebrew name.

The first line Mary spoke was also Hebrew and was one of the questions used at Passover..not sure that made any sense putting one of the Passover questions in this part of the movie..other then to show how the new and old testaments are linked? Maybe it was that the people knowing Hebrew would recognize that sentence easily.
