Well I'm trying to get the word out about the "real" PPD anyway that I can. I've placed ads for our PPD at 18 other scuba related facebook groups so far. (what can I say, I'm a member of a lot of groups
) I've personally invited probably over a 140 people to become members of our facebook group and a lot of them have joined. I messaged Tim last night about sending out a message to the membership for a membership drive on facebook. I want it to be done right so I'll need time to work on it.
Five of my facebook friends are going on the other PPD's trip. I met them on the other PPD before I came across the wetpixel thread about scubamazine.net. A few of them are members of our facebook PPD now. I'm not sure what I should do about that. I'd like to tell them about the guy, but I don't really know them the way I do the guys here on scubaboard.
Not sure how they would take it that they're being scammed... or even if they would agree that they are. Technically what he's doing is probably not illegal. I would bet that he's getting some kind of compensation from the resort and he's advertising his video's. Nothing wrong with that, but he acts like it's all about promoting diving in the Philippines.... that hes upset about how the Philippines get's ignored and he's going to do something about it.
Maybe they would listen more to another filipino member? After all when it's all said and done, I'm really nobody special. I'm just a guy who likes to travel and then write about it and post a few photos. Who am I to speak for the Philippines or Filipinos? That's actually one of the things he does that offends me... the whole "Kumusta" and "Mabuhay" thing. Am I the only one who is bothered by that? He talks as if he has a lot of filipino friends and he might... but how many of them would be his friend if they knew the truth?
My impression is that it's more about him making money selling video's and getting comped at different resorts. I wonder do the folks at Asia Divers and Atlantis know about him. He was in PG recently. I don't think they would want to be associated with someone acting in a less than ethical manner... would they? Same with ScubaToys who's advertising on his website.
I could include something about it on the message to our membership, but I really wanted to keep things positive. I don't want to do anything that will make us look bad.
I've stated before that I don't have a problem with people making a living and I'll even help them if I like them. The people who post here who have business' are up front and behave ethically. He spams, and creates fake profiles to attract business....maybe not everything hes doing is illegal, but in my opinion, some is definitely unethical.
Right now I'm supposed to be studying for a Hiraganna test tomorrow. So I really do gotta go devote some time to that today. I'll hopefully have more time this evening.
