Right? Im trying to find user reviews and videos about this product but there is dearth of information. It must be a great product, but the lac of info may be as telling as bad information. I Know that this item is expensive and may hinder some users from buying and then reviewing it. However, large companies or sponsor supported channels should have the funds to be able to do it. makes me partly hesitant to purchase

Owners of this regulator are too busy diving their brains out with the reg.to have time to write anything 🤠

At that price I think most of them have been buried with guard dogs on constant patrol. ;)

I think the way the internet works is that any problems of a product are often magnified and exaggerated in online forums, so the lack of information may not be a bad thing at all.

All I need to know is that it was designed by the same two engineers that made the G250, D400, G500, and Atomic regs (Dean Garraffa and Doug Toth). And that it has passed rsinglers scrutiny.

Atomic has set a high bar for quality in regs, so I am not worried. The real question about buying the TFX is that the improved breathing characteristics are a subtle thing and to some people not worth the price. The best analogy I can come up with is that driving enthusiasts swear by rear wheel drive cars, while many drivers may not care for that. That's why I think that Atomic's marketing to "connoisseurs" is accurate. I am waiting for the 2nd stage to become available.

It is VERY expensive AND it has been in very short supply.

If your issue is simply that the number of reviews is too small, that may never change.

If your issue is finding one good quality review, I would think maybe @rsingler's podcast (or whatever you call it) going over the TFX in detail would be sufficient information. Plus the various informal reviews posted here by actual owners (like myself) - which I think are ALL very positive.

Mine makes me WANT to book some trips where I'm limited to recreational single tank dives, just so I have an excuse to use it more. So far this year, all my trips have been technical, so no single tank diving. But, I've got a recreational liveaboard trip going in March!! My TFX will be starring in that show!

Anyone "in the know" hear about availability of the TFX?
Yes, I'm aware of the scattered shops with one "in stock" - but I'd like a reg with any manufacturer updates, not a first/ Beta test version.
I have been waiting since May and I'm not hopeful I will receive it until the fall despite placing my order with a relatively large dealer that seems to be talking to Huish every week or two. I'm optimistic that it will be one from the new batch as I presume if there was still stock from the 1st batch we should have all received them by now.

Little bit bummed as I have a dive drip planned in a few weeks and the diving window in Canada is quickly closing.

Question for those who own a TFX. We bought a TFX that needed to have the updated diaphragm piece. However, the reg breathes rough and loud on the surface (if in rough water, etc). After 16 dives, it's improved but still there (~20% as bad). Is this normal? The other reg we have is a B2 sealed and it does not do this at all on the surface. I am a bit concerned as the shop made a few mistakes on our reg prep. Just want to make sure I can be fully confident in this gear we invested in and don't need to bring it up to the shop.

If, by "on the surface" you truly mean out of the water, that rough breathing and perhaps even a honking noise is completely normal. It's worse on the TFX (and many other regs) because the diaphragm is thin and flexible. It's "fluttering in the breeze", which makes the valve stutter.

In the water, the surface tension of the liquid on one side stabilizes the diaphragm and it should be absolutely quiet.

Yeah, if you're using this reg during a rough sea surface wait, to keep water out of your mouth, it could be suboptimal. But it's not really designed to be good at that at the same time as being as good as it is underwater. A thicker diaphragm would really change the performance underwater where it counts.
