Date: October 16, 2005
Time: All day
Location: Casino Point Dive Park, Santa Catalina Island
Conditions: strong surge and swell, no vis

Yep, a day after a group of SB members dove the park with good results we are now hit by an early storm. Dinghy dock torn apart, small boats and dinghies on the beach, no dive boats went out although the Catalina Express was running. Small group of divers at the Park before 8:00 AM. Don't know if the fill station opened up or not (doubt it). A good day for editing video from yesterday.

Date: 10/16/2005
Dive Location: Shaw's Cove, Laguna
Bottom Time: 53 minutes
Max Depth: 52 fsw
Vis: 15 - 20
Temp at depth: 62F
Surf: 1 to 2 feet

Met up with two great friends at Shaw's this morning. From the beach it looked kind of surgy but since the waves were only 1 - 2 it was no problem getting out.

We dropped down and skirted the outside of the reef till we hit around 50ft. From that point we tooled around and explored the many cracks and crevices along the reef. The place is LOADED with urchins. It was great to just relax, check things out and enjoy the scenery. Too bad my friends were diving with Aluminum 80's because my steel 130 still had about 1200 psi when they were down to 500. :11doh: My Atmos ai was reading around 35 minutes left. :crying: I got to get these guys to buy bigger tanks!!!

Overall, it was a great dive.

After we left and had some grub, it got cloudy, dark, and then started to pour. I guess we got lucky. :D

Terry did the report for Casino Point yesterday (10/15/2005). Doug, Missy, Phil, Simon, Terry and I all met up at the point for some dives. We had a great time with sunny skies, nice vis, and great topside company. Nice to meet you Dr. Bill. I hope you had a nice doat dive! Here are my pictures from the day:

After having poked around in the other geographic forums, I would definitely have to say the most talented photographers are from So Cal. Stryker, great job!! This last set by you Sean, were absolute stunners.
