Then stay home. Or share the business profits with your customers since you require then to share the risks and expenses. You can't have it both ways.
I can't beleave you used the word profits on a diving form.

I challenge you to find a licanced boat to take you to the Hart.

Go ahead find the other guy.

I'm not sure why you like stirring the pot so much. Not every dive op has to run their business by your rules. Everyone is different, but in the end a business that can't make a sufficient profit will have to close. They either charge everyone more, or they charge the unlucky ones who have to bail for whatever reason.

If what you wrote is true then you only cater to locals. Never to divers who will be in your area rarely or only once. Out of towners don't book with you because of your overly restrictive policy which may result in them losing their money through no fault of their own.

As I suspected you have lost customers.and probably more in bookings then the deposits you would have returned to those who won't be able to use them at some future time.

You're a lousy businessman who blames his customers for the problem and says they're too cheap and poor to dive if they have an issue with your policy. No wonder you're struggling to stay afloat.
absolute garbage post

Now you are name calling.

I dont think 14 years of running safe charters is what anyone would concider struggling to stay afloat.
Are lucky enough to pick and choose who we want to do business with.

This policy has served us well and will continue to.

This isn't about the customer bailing. You missed some important posts. This guy won't return deposits if his boat doesn't run, whether it's weather, mechanical problem, sick crew, not enough divers, or anything else.
We offer a credit for future trips in the event of a blowout.

It's not a windfall for us if the wether sucks. Its actually the opposite as we loose a day and still owe you a trip.

I am? What were you doing when you said you don't want the sort of divers who won't pay a non refundable deposit, who shouldn't be diving since they are poor and can't afford it?

No different than saying you don't know how to properly run a business. That's an observation by the way not name calling.
Please provide a quot whare i said anyone is poor?

Any way this has been fun but I'm going to get back on the tig and make some money.

I'm heartbroken 💔 at the loss of you not no-showing for my boat this season.

It's simply applied as a credit to future trips.

That's assuming a recurring customer.

But I think there are two drifts in this part of of the thread. From customer initiated to shop initiated cancelation (for me the two are different enough that they warrant different handling) and the service provided. I noticed the first but not the second. It was the messages posted between when I started to write my own and when I submitted it that made it clear that I had missed that your services are more customized than what I assumed (and I think the original subject was).
