Not entirely sure, but I thought the Zeagle was the exact same reg at the Apex. Anyone know for sure? A good alternative if it is!
I have Zeagle regs, and I've heard from multiple sources that they are very close in design to Apeks regs, so that those who service Apeks regs have no problem with the Zeagle.

You can talk to Larry @ Scubatoys or Scott Zeagle, who posts in the manufacturer forum here.

My rig is 100% French crap free :D

Well I figured since I was reading here, up until this thread was posted I was looking at getting Apeks ATX100/ATX50 octo combo, but after this thread I have decided to go with Zeagle gear instead via scubatoys.com.

Just wanted AL to know, it is actually trickling down to their pocketbook. :D

Be assured that Aqualung knows as they are reading this.

They were reading the other thread for sure, so you know they are reading this thread.

Now they know that because of their actions and your change in decission, they now know that this is costing them sales

Aqualung.... can you hear the "Cha-Ching" ? That's the noise of the cash register ringing up some other brand of gear.

They may not have noticed it. Should we send them a link...? :D

Zeagle purchased Apeks Regs and rebadged them up till 2000. Since then Zeagle have built regulators in house. They have done some significant mods on the Regs since 2000.

Cheers

OK...I'm curious. Does AL own only the American Apeks franchise, or the whole thing? The reason I ask is because i have just been looking at the Apeks UK site - where they are originally made - and Aqualung is listed their as the American distributor. I can't find any information as to anyone owning them.

· Apeks Ltd.: With 30 years of experience at the forefront of advanced diving regulator production, the 1997 acquisition of Apeks gave Aqua Lung dealers the ability to offer technical divers advanced diving regulators, which have been routinely used on world record deep dives.

Yes...I know that.....but is that just the American rights? Apeks still has a registered company in the UK and still makes regulators in their original factory. Their corporate website also lists all their International distributors - Aqualung is listed as the American one:
http://www.apeks.co.uk/home_frameset.htm

Air Liquid lists Aqualung as a subsiduary....but there is no mention of Apeks Marine Equipment Ltd.
http://www.airliquide.com/en/home.html
(look under Subsidiary Company Websites)

edit: I might have a definitive answer to this soon - I have just emailed Apeks Marine Equipment Ltd to ask them to clarify it for me.

I'd assume that AL owns at least controlling interest in Apeks, if not the whole taco.
AL is listed as the distributer in several countries for Apeks, not just the USA.

It may well be that the ownership by AL is kept low key intentionally on the UK site.
