Hi Texas Swamp Divers!
We are over in Albuquerque, NM and dive at our illustrious Blue Hole often, well, too often!! We are interested in exploring some other dive site options and think all of the Scuba Parks in Texas sound exciting! Can you give me a short list and locations - places worth the drive for us (we don't mind an 8-10 hour drive if there is good diving). We have been told by locals that Balmorrhea is okay but not really worth the drive. Can you help us out??

There is a few sites within decent driving distances of NM. Balmorhea is one of them. San Solomon springs sits inside the State Park. Its great vis but depth is only 20ft max; 74-76 temp year round. It is located near Pecos, TX; here is the link: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/balmorhe/. If you don't mind venturing farther there are other sites as well, but most are located in East to South Texas. Lake Travis, Austin; Clearsprings Scuba Park, Terrell; Athen's Scuba Park; Athens; Blue Lagoon, Huntsville. Hope that helps.

Within 8-10 hours of Albuquerque NM, the only thing there is, is San Solomon Springs.

It's 8 hours from San Solomon to Dallas. I don't know the drive time from San Solomon to Travis or Amistad.
