I received my repaired Teric #8 from Dive-Tronix yesterday after it underwent battery replacement following 1 year of use. Each time I get back a replacement or repaired Teric, I hope that one will be perfect. I hope that again now. The 2-year clock has been restarted.
My repaired Teric #8 has now been through 2 standby cycles and 2 short dive trips. The battery performance has been excellent, very little battery consumption in standby and good performance on dives. I now have another short standby period followed by an intense two week dive trip to Bonaire. I hope this continues...

My poor Teric (twice serviced for battery issues) loses 50% power a week in standby. Fortunately i dive it almost ever week and recharge it often. It needs to go in again, probably when i send it my Petrel 3 for the recall.

I’m new to scubaboard and looking to purchase a dive computer. The Teric is on my shortlist so this thread is of interest. I was hoping to find a concise narrative describing how Shearwater finally solved the Teric-problem (whatever that might mean) but that’s not what I’m seeing. It looks like there are ongoing problems even for those who bought their Terics in 2024 and 2025..? I suppose this could be a sampling issue—happy customers are perhaps less likely to visit such threads. But still, it’s concerning.

Hi @Pelagics

I assume you are referencing the problem with deteriorating, short battery life, but you may also mean the fragile air integration antenna.

As far as I know, Shearwater has not directly addressed either of these issues in an information release. I would be glad to be corrected if this is inaccurate.

This information is included in Teric FAQ, I have had several Terics replaced or repaired under warranty since I purchased one in 2019:

The typical battery life is 5 years.

The battery can be replaced at authorized service centers.

The turn around time for replacement is 5 business days after receipt of payment, excluding shipping time. The battery replacement includes inspection, functional testing and pressure testing.

If the battery is not meeting performance specifications within the 2-year warranty period it will be replaced free of charge. Variations to battery lifespan can be expected due to operating at extremes of the rated specification, such as high environmental temperatures or repeatedly fully discharging the battery.

Well an update, I think I finally got a good battery in one of my Terics

Teric B received from SRI on 09/19/23 with original battery 80%
Teric P received from SRI 09/25/23, battery replaced 08/28/24 56%

Both were charged about two weeks ago, and did two dives with downloads.

I acquired one again, prices have really dropped since tern and peregrine tx came out hope it is a good one.
