Hello, do most tec divers use a computer or just two timing devices and run off the tables and use there brain for a computer? Im super curious, I getting into tec diving and i dont know if i want to buy a super heavy duty comptuer or just get two timing device and use my good ol thinker as my computer?
Chris

Depends on the technical diver, and the dive.

Okay, would this be smart? Get 2 bottom timmers, with a VR3 computer thats with im going with that computer. What other computer would you guys go with, that would do the job very good?
Chris

VRs just make dive planning and gas changes a snap. Might want to just use tables and timers at first to see if you like it and really want to stay with it b/4 you drop the money. My guess is all the new gear will dent the pocketbook pretty good so why throw another 1500 at it

I've used a VR3. It has it's plusses and minuses. But if I was dropping big money on a "Tech" computer, that would be the one.

True enough, What tables do you guys use? Padi,TDI or what not, i need a new pair. Would a computer help maybe like a Apeks quantom instead of a VR or even pick up a VR2?
Thanks for the help
Chris

If you want to go that route, you probably won't need two bottom timers- just one as backup to the computer.

Which route is the best way to go, you guys are the pros with more exp. Which computers would do the job?
Chris

LOL! I'm no pro. Maybe the other guys are.

I cut tables with deco software and then use a bottom timer to dive that plan. It's easy, cheap, and very effective.

When you use a computer, you are generally locked into whatever software THEY feel is best for you. That doesn't always jibe with me. I use a Suunto Vyper and it does everything I need for both recreational diving, and technical diving. And I'll use it right through trimix training.
