So many choices, so many opinions.....work on your personal gas management, plan your dives around it, and any size tank will work for you. There are plenty of tank options and while every tank may not be available to rent at resorts, they certainly are available to purchase no matter where you live. If you can manage your own gas consumption then whatever tank is available to you can be worked with. Ultimately, it is the diver that plans and makes the dive, not the equipment.
 
Ya, there is more to gas management than that.

Al80s are popular because they are cheap, light, low(ish) fill pressure, and easy to get ahold of.

...and they don't rust in a hot, humid, salty, tropical, corrosive, neglected maintainance marine environment.
