I have a Suunto Zoop for 3 years, always well looked after and of course the pressure gauge broke. My understanding is that this is a very common fault with Suunot products. Other divers know it and have told me many times, alongside Suunto repairing this issue for free.

However >> Suunto want to charge me £145 to repair the sensor. This is scandalous. I would never touch a Suunto product again. They should repair the fault. I live in the UK so they may think they can get away this poor level of service.

BE WARNED about their products. I will be raising awareness of Suunto on various platforms regarding this issue and their extremely poor response.

BE WARNED your country might impact whether they try to squirm out of taking responsibility for what could be poor build quality.

What to do?
In the UK the small claims court costs 5% of the claim value to raise a legal case. The plaintiff (consumer) has no legal liability for the defendant's costs and would almost certainly win if the defendant fails to show up for the case. This avenue of recourse is extremely likely to succeed.

Everyone knows this and moved onto shearwater DC's. I also had the same issue and Suunto told me to basically eff off not their problem.

I quite like a small claims court action in the UK, so I am definitely going to be testing this out. I'll keep everyone informed.

Why do you expect a free repair on a computer 3 years old?

the replace mine for free bought it in 2011 !

Does that mean they should replace all that are out of warantee because they replaced yours?

Suunto did exactly that in the US as part of the settlement of a class action lawsuit a few years ago. I recall the reports of sensor failures on SB was used as part of the evidence.

Suunto are selling a product with a known defect that they fail to disclose before purchase.

I use to have a suunto stinger many years ago, it was a brilliant well made solid computer. Then the newer breed of suuntos came out, which always looked cheaply made to me and no better than other cheaper brands. Now, I have a perdix and feel very comfortable with it.

If you search the threads here you will find that Shearwater also appears to have had bad batches of sensors. Their approach in North America is a free repair or replacement. Elsewhere, they expect the customer to pay. Which is the same approach as Suunto.

OP is the UK, which is why he is being asked to pay.
