I'm reading the bands are very unreliable.Has anyone had problems with band failure. Also I have the rubber and metal bands. How hard is it to change .Also read to put some lock tite on the screw when changing .This doesn't seem right thanks

Loctite is a good idea and won't hurt it any" The plastic bands had many reports of failure not sure is this was ever addressed. Switching straps is not difficult but as they use a proprietary fitting you can only use Suunto straps. There are some vids on YouTube. There was someone who made a mod for suuntos that would allow the use of other straps. Good luck.

Thanks for the info.I was asking because I would like to switch between the two straps that came with the watch. I guess Ill stick with the metal band for diving . Also I was wondering about the lock tite because I would be switching the bands

You have to be careful with the locktight, the T6 screw that you have to unscrew strips so easily, its crazy, personally I wouldn't use any locktight at all.
If you want I can send you copies of a few hundred e-mails that show that the metal straps on Suunto D6's as well as the D9's are very prone to unexpected breakage as well as the elastomer ones are.
No warning, they just fall off.

If you want to see just how to change the strap, take a look here: Installing the Suunto D6 - Tibby-Adapters and Straps for your Suunto Dive Computers and watches

Agree, Id only use the weakest Loctite, red I believe. I use it on my dive gear it comes apart relatively easy. But actually I'd buy the mod, I read many many glowing reviews on it, looks very well designed and made.

Was looking at the tibbys they look secure enough that's for sure I a vacation diver so I was buying with looks in mind also
