You're incorrigible. But gotta love your attitude. You are definitely not getting that thing up the Dunnfield Trail LOL. AT maybe...

Yeah, I gotta convince BRD the same. *sigh*

I honestly believe that the AT approach is the only reasonable one. Now, know that I've been wrong before (way too many times) and am quite willing to attempt the shorter ascent...

See pic for your amusement below. Behind my house "Proving Ground". :D

Wow. That looks a bit like the AT approaching the intersection at SP. Great training ground.

Always open to a better idea...

Wait about a month (maybe 2), approach with XC skis & snowshoes, pulling the gear on an expedition toboggan or sled -- use a big enough sled and it'll double as a small boat. If your dog has about 7 friends, harness them & they can do the work.

But I am not Ice Diving certified... lol :D

:rofl3:

We could pull it off before the ice. (That is one COLD lake)

OR:

How about we get the cart squared away this year and then just do a depth profile map (from the surface) with a GPS, line, and weight? I'm dying to justify buying a packable canoe/kayak.

?

i have one comment.. you guys are f-ing crazy for even considering hiking all your gear up there..

hey lowviz, how was shark river/ Belmar the other day?

I would agree with you if all that work was just for knocking off a dive in a pond.

There is much more to it than that. Nobody seems to know anything about the bottom contour or even how deep the glacial lake really is. Just mapping it from the surface would be interesting. Very little is known about what is in there. If anything is known, it isn't reported anywhere.

BRD and his son have already been below the surface with a pony bottle and minimal gear and they confirmed that the site is interesting. This is on the edge of do-able. It has turned into a serious exercise in minimalism. The leading contenders are my Freedom Plate, my steel 50, a 19 pony, and my drysuit. probably take the lead for my weight belt up to the pond the day before. If we each can pack our gear to Sunfish Pond, we can also get it to other remote and interesting locations. It is worth the effort (to us).

As for your question, I missed this tide. Pity, it was a big one. Here is why: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ad...swim-requirement-post7557468.html#post7557468

We did a High Tide dive this morning in the Inlet. 29 minute dive - 53F min temperature - viz looked better from the rocks but hey we dove A Street. Saw 3 or 4 butterfly tropicals - I could barely believe it... No lobsters, crabs were dug in and looked like they were hibernating - one or two Taug of good size but the rest were all small. Really nice day - about 60 degrees out at the end of the dive.
