Man, that sucks....good luck recovering it. Was anything else stolen? Or is this a case of someone coveting it and finally getting a hold of it? Either way, it sucks and I hope you get it back!

Yes it certainly does suck!

Many many items were taken; too long to list here, but will list in a separate post(s) for yours and others information.

My den is generally locked and I always accompany visitors in it. Therefore, items were not taken by local friends, neighbors, house cleaning personnel, gardeners or my family. Re; my family...all are divers for 40 years, the eldest lives in Australia, two live in SoCal; one is a very successful doctor/business woman, the last one is a soccer mom. My son, who worked his way through undergrad as a deck hand for Greg Elliot on the Golden Doubloon is also an ex Neptune & a 2007 Pro 5000 diver was at the time of the loss completing med school as a Hyperbaric doctor 300 miles south at Scripps. So rule out all of the above.

The items were stolen by a couple who were well known in diving a generation ago, but were at that time known as crooks and their diving businesses failed. With the passage of time and advancing of age we thought they had mellowed and established a new relationship. We reunited 10-12 years ago and were frequent visitors to their home in Baja as they to our home in the USA during that time period. Sadly my wife and I did not recognized the signs of their coveting.

Their last and final visit my den was unlocked and they set us up, removing a gold plated 1969 US Divers commemorate regulator, three vintage historical spear guns, valuable one of a kind historic diving books and documents, and anything they could pull from my den undetected which they could carry and load to their waiting van as we entertained them with a farewell breakfast.

They reside in Baja near Bay of the Angels are well known in that area but discovered since the loss they are not respected for the in that area same reasons . They are some what loosely associated with Ricardos Dive Tours, located up on the hill as you enter the town, some of the items may or may not be displayed there. The local policia are powerless to act...

Yes, a local police report has been made;
~~ 4 counts of pre meditated grand theft home burglary ~~
Eventually they will be apprehended...

I detest liars, cheats, and thieves!

Sorry to bore you...sdm
