I just picked up two Al-80's from my local Sport Chalet. They were in for hydro. Both came back tumbled as well. The odd thing was that one of them had been vis'd just two months ago with no sign of corrosion and dived just one time after the vis. Yet that one was tumbled along with the other. An instructor who picked up three HP-80's at the same time and did his own vis had two out of three come back tumbled, even though he said all three were "squeaky clean." He was equally unhappy.

Have others experienced this with Sport Chalet? They charge $25 for hydro and $20 for tumbling. The guy at the counter said that Sport Chalet has its own hydro testing facility. Do they have a little gimmick going or is there an explanation I'm missing here?

Typically I have a problem with unauthorized work and refuse to pay for it. Especially if I have not signed anything. The hydro facility should have a report ask for it. No report - no pay.
