SP G260 - stuck orifice...help!

Hello. I was surprised a search didn't already show this being discussed prior.

I'm in the last stages of an overhaul and the orifice in the metal barrel of this G260 is stuck. There was more corrosion than expected in the reg so I suspect that + overtightening during the last service might be the culprit.

I've already given it a good ultrasonic clean and even a vinegar soak...still not budging.

Any thoughts on what to do next, please? WD-40? Heat? Cheers!

Try cold… chuck it in the freezer for an hour. Then warm water. Try again. Freezing while wet might even help - ice crystals can form forcing bits apart.

Or fix the barrel, put some liquid silicone (LS) into the barrel from the adjustment side, then take a wooden dowel or screw driver and hit slightly on it. WD40 also works, but I prefer LS....
That can give the liquid the chance to penetrate the threads.
Then start to screw the orifice inwards first a bit.
If it moves, put some more LS into the barrel and screw a bit further inwards, then out.
Removing the orifice shouldn't be a problem anymore.......

I go back and forth between hot-hot water and iced water, 15 minutes each for about five cycles or so and then try again. Since the brass barrel and (I assume) plastic orifice expand and contract at different rates, the freeze/thaw cycles usually work eventually.

essentially the freeze/hot a few times did the trick. but i think the real key was screwing the orifice (brass, btw) clockwise to 'crack' it before it would unscrew.

fantastic. thank you. you saved me some serious embarrassment....haha

(btw, it wasn't corroded much at all. wondering why it became stuck?)

I try to make sure the orifice is lubed.
