Ok! I have not called in sick, although I have gotten my work done and skipped out early. But I'm still hourly and I would never cheet my employer, He has been very good to me and he understands my need to get away. I seen him sneek out of the office to go windsurfing! Shhhhh!

ScubaNorth:
OK fess up how many of us have "called in sick" to go Diving? I don't have a 9-5 job so I can take as much time off as I like (well in theory) but I did blow off an appointment with a client to go diving. Confession is good for the soul. Has your diving habit caused you to do something else a little on the wrong side?

I don't understand. What is this "job" thing? Has it anything to do with that four letter word starting with "w"?

Help me out here,

John

My boss is cool about it, heck most of the time he is there with me as well :D ........but then again, I am that boss, so it's easy for me to play hookie for a day.

I used to have to "Lie to Dive"

Now I just call it a "Personal Day"....

but Like Tamas...I am the boss....so its easy for me too :)

Fortunately, I work for a Co. where Bosses are all golfers. So I know where they are Friday afternoons. Fortunately, I don't golf. I purposely don't schedule "conf. calls" Friday afternoons. I don't feel guilty blowing off afternoon considering "second shift" e-mail, work in evening. Today, most are telecommuters home office.. I am in touch via blackberry, cell. I do check for missed calls or e-mails to see if anything urgent.
Probably explains why track wheel on my PDA isn't working too well from checking e-mails with wet saltwater fingers!

When I am playing hooky, it's usually with John Chaplain on his boat. He's used to the buzzing vibration of my crackberry.

Ummm, I can niether confrim nor deny rumors of this actitvity....

Damn right I have! I work for a company where they expect you to live for them. Screw that! They can't pay me enough. My first marriage was a casualty of being too loyal to the job. There were other thing yeah but that was a big one. Never again will I put a job ahead of my health (mental included), my family, or anything else I deem more important. So if I want to go diving or a buddy calls and says I'm burnt out and need to get wet, well "hello boss. I feel like crap today. I won't be coming in. why? eye trouble. I can't see coming to work when it's this good a day to dive! Luckily I have a second source of income so to take a day off now and then is not a big deal. If I did not. I'D STILL DO IT! They do not own me.

Darylm74 - Where in the Pittsburgh area is there a decent place to dive?

Yep - I was at a "wedding" on Saturday........

All most skipped out today but Dive Buddie couldn't make it. And it was His idea? Go figure?? Had things to do around the office, like surf Scuba Board.
