I just purchased a S/S BP with harness and crotch strap from Gary on Fleabay.

$118.50 plus shipping.

He only uses 1/8" s/s, but it is of high quality. He also deburs slots and holes on his BP.

Not sure of the quality yet.. but I will know soon.

Gary makes these up himself, and sells them via Fleabay, along with a wing (OMS :() and different BP's some in aluminum.

You can find him doing a search there for Backplate.

Like I said I don't know how his product compares to FredT's.

Wow. I was surprised to see that this post was still running. I ended up getting the Fred T heavy in the short version to accommodate my height. I rigged up a harness, fed the cam bands through my wreck wings (55#),and was ready to dive. After a few dives I noticed that it was somewhat harder to align my cylinder and the wings. Soon after that I ordered the heavy 2 piece STA. This solved the problem, now everything aligns easily and perfectly. The only improvement I still need to do is put a SS lock nut on instead of the butterfly nut holding everything together.
I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH MY NEW RIG!
