Scubapro Xtender dive computer/watch
all i could find on the web was japanese ou korean.
Would apreciate any info.

We just got our shipment in. They seem pretty cool, although haven't been out diving with it yet. Very small, compact, seems easy to use.

Hi,

I bought the Xtender last month in Thailand and dived with it. It is clear and simple divecomputer that gives you everything you need to know during and after your dive. I love this computer and wear it every day.

Nice simple, but have many features, like 99% oxigen. We sell then even oversears, because prices here in Thailand are relatively low (btw D9 are priced very affordable too). I like this one, just because it is light and looks like watch, not bulky as my Mosquito, but priced in the same range

Hi! New to ScubaBoard.

I'm also considering the Xtender and I'd like to share the info that I've come across while researching this model.

This is the Xtender model offered worldwide by Scubapro.

And then, there are also Japanese-market Xtenders, the Xtender Quattro (left) and the Xtender V3 (right).

You will notice the Japanese Xtender Quattro looks similar to the global Xtender, except the Japanese one comes with the steel Quick-Adjust Buckle as an option to the rubber strap.

Other than what is available in Scubapro's website, there's a dearth of product information, product reviews/feedback on this product. The Scubapro website doesn't even identify the algorithm used (Buhlmann? since its a sibling company of Uwatec?), nor does it feature a product demo.

I'm very inclined with this product because of its watch-like size, but haven't made a final decision because of lack of info.

Other compacts I've looked at are the Mares Nemo and the Suunto Stinger, both RGBM. I'm more inclined with Buhlmann.

Any updates on the Xtender?

hi stormrider, an LDS guy told me this (not sure how true it is tho): the Xtender used to be only available in Japan (as seen in ur Japan model pics) and they were manufactured in a tie-in with Seiko. But worldwide demand for smaller more watch-like looking divecomps compelled Uwatec/Scubapro to market it worldwide as the black colored Xtender we see today everywhere. Don't quote me on this however, i'm just the messenger passing on what i heard.. That aside, the LDS guy told me its a very good divecomp and he recommends it, but the selling price was too high so i settled on the cheaper Aladin Prime.

This thread can't come at a better time. Am looking to buy a dive comp. Would very much like to get a Uwatec. Only thing holding me back is how huge they are and that u can't use them as a watch on land. I also love the computer software that Uwatech provides. My boyfriend showed me how it works and I can't wait to get my own now! I'm seriously considering getting the Xtender or Suunto's Stinger.

Any feedback on these 2 would be greatly appreciated.

Tell them the customer (me) wants to know when they'll have a 2 EAN mix switchable version to compete with the Dive Rite NiTek Plus and Apeks Pulse, and that we want the metal options available in Japan also, and a PC download interface . . . SERIOUSLY! I'd buy that (from Scubatoys with my Scubaboard discount, of course!) and consider eBaying my veteran DR NiTek3, especially after my last fun with NiTek Logic and my NiTek3.

I've noted they have a model target marketed to the female divers now - the Lady's Ice Extender, available outside Japan (see Scubapro UK).

Even better Larry - have the other Xtender models sold by TUSA instead of Scubapro in the USA, so no problems with on-line sales, and 2 year warranties . . .

We seem to have the same shortlist. I've seen both the Xtender and Stinger in my LDS, here's my own low-down:

Xtender
Simple clean-cut styling
Very light on the wrist
Comes only with rubber strap
Unstated algorithm (Buhlmann?)

Stinger
Impressive styling
Pricey
Identical features to the lower-priced (and lighter) Suunto Mosquito
Steel model is heavier on the wrist than the Xtender
If you get the steel strap version, extra rubber straps are provided with the box
Titanium model is even pricier
RGBM algorithm

The 3rd model on my shortlist is the Mares Nemo

The RGBM algorithm of Suunto/Mares are very conservative, according to my fellow divers who own Suuntos. But I guess their choice of Suunto (Mosquito) are based on their preference for price-friendly, compact watch/computer.

I'm more inclined with the Buhlmann algorithm (Uwatec) since its less conservative vs. Suunto. And I'm assuming the Xtender uses Buhlmann (since Scubapro and Uwatec belong to the same corporate family).

I would have wanted to include the new Aladin Prime range, but the large hockey-puck size wasn't my cup of tea.

At the end of the day, I've weighed my options based on looks, price and algorithm. And for now, I'm heavily favoring the Xtender. But still waiting for product reviews/feedback.
