I just think of all my years working in body shops with Oxy/ acetaline torches, grease and oil, filth, combustibles everywhere, dirt, grime, etc.
Never seen one fire or explosion turning valves on or changing out tanks. Those welding regs, fittings, or torches aren’t always the cleanest things either.
Which is why all oxy welding valves, regulators, and fittings are brass. And it looks like they use Oxygen "safe" o-rings and lubes just like we do.

Even the torch bodies are usually brass even though self ignition isn't a problem at the very low O2 pressures they are fed (1-2bar/15-30psi over ambient).

You know what happened Oh venerable most precise of brass tinkerer dudes one!

Having convinced myself I was time poor I foolishly got in touch with the battery dude to build me a ni
mihipo4 pack for my Gavin but he wasn't listening and told me if he were I he would buy a new scooter

but
amazingly
I ain't he

There is a first time for lots of things, left in the time we have

So seriously if you can count to all your fingers and thumbs and then follow them to where they lead you

Doing those polycarbonate circles by hand I just love it, it really is some pretty tough stuff polycarbonate

I'm almost there see my locating horns at the top of the pack a bit of a tribute to the Counts Horny Mike

Enjoy!

Stuff is made from brass, because stainless is far to hard a material, for making all the random brass stuff

Been dreaming about it for years man, was looking at one, and a mill computer controlled an hour ago

I've even got a three phase power maker, for my compressor and booster and the hoist I have to install

after I lay the 6m by 2.5m x 300mm ish deep lump of concrete

So I can install these in a car, but most importantly to rotate my tyres and maybe some other stuff

Alas it aint' gonna be, as the list is far too long, and the view out the window is too grand to be lathing

036.JPG

and there is far far too much diving to do inside that view, 14m of heaven when you drop off that shelf

A seafood connoisseurs delight

Thanks man I really appreciate it man, Gone for diving is a great name, and I Love those wilds of Canada

Well, I'm continuing my discussions with the owner of Scubagaskets, and he continues to tweak their upcoming reg so that we can have the reg that the Apeks XTX50 should be, but isn't.

They've got an excellent HP seat. They're fixing Apeks' problem with the occasional leaking diaphragm towards the end of the service interval. They're working on protecting the DIN/Yoke connector threads from seawater that never quite gets rinsed out, and makes late disassembly impossible without ruining the bolt if you extend your service interval because the valve is still working fine.
Lately, we've been working on the second stage, and I want you to take a look at this!

It's a micro adjustable knob out of stainless steel! Like everything that's come from their contract factory, the machining is superb.
And in keeping with their emphasis on supporting the DIY diver, they're not hiding the microadjust under a rubber cap, but leaving it out where you can see it and adjust your reg yourself.
Everything's taking a bit longer than we'd hoped, but I think it'll be worth the wait. The popular DST, re-imagined and improved, and in 316SS, for less cost than Apeks. Parts, service kits and a manual, all available to the end user.

As best I can tell that looks really nice! I just busted the plastic handle off the adjustment knob of a second stage I have from another manufacturer.

Of course I abused it, the second stage fell from the top of the tank and smacked the deck of the boat - but stuff like that is "foreseeable abuse".

Even the old scuba pro adjustment knobs made of brass get bent, but that SS one looks like it would be tough for me to break.

What is their thinking on an affordable, reversible, center-balanced, stainless 2nd?
You mean an all metal body 2nd?
God, I would think I died and went to heaven!
One thing I can comment on,
They need to get rid of the soft cover and figure out a hard cover with a spring loaded purge button.

Not quite what I was thinking, but could be cool. They could call it the "Aviator" ...
