Well, four months later, and we're putting the finishing touches on the 316SS turreted diaphragm first stage with a microadjustable balanced second that I believe beats the XTX50.

The body has been redesigned for better cold water performance, and the machining is superb. We've addressed Apeks' problem with their champagne bubbles from the diaphragm clamp at the 1-2 year mark, and the HP seat and diaphragm are excellent.

As you can see, in addition to 316SS, a fifth port comes standard. I hope to have the latest version in my hands within a month, and the reg and service manual should appear on Scubagaskets website soon after.
The second stage barrel is also 316SS, along with the hose ends. After diving and deliberately neglecting a prototype during my Anilao trip a few months ago, things stayed nicely in tune. The oxidation in the nooks and crannies that had started due to my deliberately not rinsing the set for a month after the trip disappeared in a quick little 10% citric acid bath.
If you dive and like Apeks DST, Dive-Rite or HOG, then this needs to be your next reg.

Bulletproof and made for DIY service. Any shop that can handle the above brands will be right at home here, as the improvements are significant re: performance but subtle. If you didn't look closely, you'd be forgiven for thinking this was an Apeks.

Scubagaskets now has both a piston and a diaphragm first stage. Pick your fave. The microadjustable second will only come with the diaphragm set, I think.

Even if tariffs come true, I'll bet the price point will be favorable compared to a four port Apeks, but as noted, this one comes standard with the fifth port. And stainless steel - did I say that?

I need a link to buy one!

If a non tariff European country gets goods from a US tariffed country then assembles the product and sells the completed goods to the US, are those goods tariffed?

It is pretty but it is too big and too heavy for a travel reg first stage. Not sure I understand the fascination with sealing diaphragm first stages. I guess it is about cold water diving I suppose more than corrosion. I might do the Mark 10 copy however if I find some spare SCUBA dedicated cash not spent on Nauticam and camera stuff :(.

Well, I'm continuing my discussions with the owner of Scubagaskets, and he continues to tweak their upcoming reg so that we can have the reg that the Apeks XTX50 should be, but isn't.

They've got an excellent HP seat. They're fixing Apeks' problem with the occasional leaking diaphragm towards the end of the service interval. They're working on protecting the DIN/Yoke connector threads from seawater that never quite gets rinsed out, and makes late disassembly impossible without ruining the bolt if you extend your service interval because the valve is still working fine.
Lately, we've been working on the second stage, and I want you to take a look at this!

It's a micro adjustable knob out of stainless steel! Like everything that's come from their contract factory, the machining is superb.
And in keeping with their emphasis on supporting the DIY diver, they're not hiding the microadjust under a rubber cap, but leaving it out where you can see it and adjust your reg yourself.
Everything's taking a bit longer than we'd hoped, but I think it'll be worth the wait. The popular DST, re-imagined and improved, and in 316SS, for less cost than Apeks. Parts, service kits and a manual, all available to the end user.

It's awesome. Does it require special tool to adjust the micro-adjust? Or a simple allen key works?

What's your reg name? SGS3T4?
Yes, that's the designator.
Silly choice, but they're stuck now due to the cost of CE certification. It only applies to that name regulator. More European madness.

But your photo was an early prototype. We've made a lot of changes since then.

I have the piston model and it's very small and petite as balanced pistons go. I'm using it in 48 to 53 degree water doing beach dives. So far so good, I'm very happy with it.
