10000% yes send them back. Those look like a total cluster F.

Could you please be more emphatic and to the point, you sound like you are standing on the fence :p

Can't put my hands on it to see for sure, but it looks like them is side stamped. Lay a straight edge on the side wall. if it covers part of the stamp, that just won't do. Stamps on the sidewall are automatic condemnation criteria. No further evaluation required.

I'd say they just owe you your money back and you got nice new garden bells.

Because just being able to physically get in and out of the water with
all the gear lugging involved makes us of all capabilities Super Divers.

Reminds me of when the question of limbering up predive was posed

The legendary TSandM replies
I would have thought that carrying all that gear from the car to the boat was enough limbering

Or something like that ha ha ha ha ha ha ah ah ah ah ha ha ha ha ha!

It's not just diving it's surviving and those that don't know don't get it

Them

Hi Emile,

Thank you for your email!

Our store is closed on Sundays and Mondays, but I saw your message and thought I would reply right away. Is there a problem with the cylinders? Is it the location of the stamp? We get our cylinders stamped by our supplier. What makes the stamps valid, is the testing station “code” (the code in the middle). Some tanks have vertical stamps, others have horizontal stamps.

One of our suppliers for aluminium tanks, puts the first stamp on the bottom of the cylinder. As far as I’m aware there is no correct way or industry standard for test stamps, so the cylinders are ready to be filled by any filling station in the country.

If that’s not the case, please let me know. If you would like cylinders with a stamp in a different location, we can of course organise that. Will you be coming to the shop, as shipping cylinders back and forth is not a cheap exercise unfortunately.

Please let me know your thoughts.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you,
best regards, Vince.

Me

Come on Vince, stamped on the side of the tank, on the wall of the tank, ha ha ha ha ha have a good think about that Vince, and not just that, under the bands, ha ha ha ha ha your supplier is just too busy to supervise their new person

I'm definitely not in the mood to drive hours and hours to your shop this minute having just come back from nightmare Melbourne last night However in a couple of weeks as my mind recovers it is a contemplation that I am more likely to agree with rather than not

Although I don't mind sharing postage

Let me think about these horizontal stamps for a couple of days, for fourty plus years my tanks have been stamped vertically

Thanks again for your friendly service Vince, I'll get in touch this week. Is it ok if I call you.

Cheers

Some tanks have vertical stamps, others have horizontal stamps
I have never had a stamp that is not around the top of a cylinder and only one that was horizontal [out of the 11 I just looked at].
Is this supplier in South Australia?
Good luck.

I just had one of these house maintainers delivered from Sydney

This guys ignorance and moaning is really beginning to bore me

Them

Hi Emile,

Thank you for your email.

The horizontal stamps are not that unusual. Vertical is definitely the more common way, but we do see horizontal ones regularly.

The ones on the body of the cylinder are more unusual though. I will take this up with our supplier.

The ones I have got in stock actually have the same stamps, so I will have to order new ones in with other stamps.

If you’re happy to wait, swapping them over in store will be much more cost efficient of course, but if you need them quickly, I’m happy to work something out. Unfortunately there is very little margin on cylinders, especially since we ship them for free and the cost of shipping cylinders is very high.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

Best regards,

Send them a box of tissues and a small violin.

An option is for them get the cylinders "retested" and stamped in the correct and commonly accepted standard place on the shoulder. And the side-stamp properly painted over.
