I'd be more concerned by the chemotherapy than the cancer itself - All the folks I've known who've been on chemo had no business diving until a while (probably at least a month) after the chemo was complete.

Wouldn't it have been better to arrange a meeting between the oncologist and a doctor from the board of diving physicians that work for DAN, NAUI, PADI, or any other diving certification agency so as to EDUCATE the oncologist as to the contraindications for diving? That in my opinion would have been my course of action.
