Wow! How time flies, whether you are having fun or not. Another year gone by and although not as traumatic as 2001, still some drama around the world in 2002.
On a personal note, I have had the fortunate/unfortunate chance to do a trip from L.A. to Tampa and back to L.A. early in the year. Although things came about to cause my need to return to L.A., I was in Tampa long enough to meet and dive with a few Scubaboard members. Bob, JustJules and Sharpenu are 3 of the finest people you'll ever want to meet and dive with.
While back in L.A., my dive buddy/girlfriend Kath and me went out on Chamber Day and I had a chance to meet and talk to ChrisM. It was a nice experience to discuss different subjects with him and I hope to dive with him sometime to hopefully get pointers on u/w photography.
Unfortunate circumstances arose again in late spring necessitating a move back to Ky to help a couple of family members. All was not gloom and dispair however. I did get the chance to meet quite a few of the KPP, and have had the chance to dive with JBD, CKHarlan69 and K4SDI. And although some of the others were at the quarries I only had a chance to briefly talk to them until our recent dinner in December. Just as I discovered witht he people from Florida, these people are really good people also. Thanks to CincyBengalsFan, A J Shark, Ky Stork, Fins to the Left, CTurtle, Forkliftman, Ky Mermaid, Ky Diver, K4SDI, JBD and CKHarlan69 for allowing me to join ya.
I just recently returned from Key Largo where I met with Bob, NetDoc and his buddies. We went diving with Bluewater Divers in which KeyLargo Brent is the DM. This was an absolute blast even though we had to dive the Spiegel Grove in 4 to 6 foot seas. Everyone was great company and seemed to enjoy themselves.
One last person I need to mention is MHK. I met Mike over 2 years ago at the LA Scuba Show and although we don't agree a lot of times I still respect him for his wealth of knowledge and his compassion to making our sport as safe as humanly possible.
I normally don't make resolutions for the new year but after the opportunities I have had this past year meeting so many from the Scubaboard I have decided to make an effort to meet as many if not more in 2003. I encourage all to do the same whenever possible. Even though the board has grown astronomically we all have one thing in common, diving.
Have a Happy, Prosperous and Safe Diving New Year.
