Doubles? Deco dive?

Put that gas in a single (I would probably need a 130) and go do the dive.

You're doing deco on the 1 minute stops. Why don't you argue that all dives are deco dives and we can go circular. ;) 130, doubles, it's a lot of gas anywhere you put it. Not a typical recreational dive, but I would do it. :D

So it's a technical dive if you spread your 5 minute safety stop up into 5 separate places, but not if you do it all at 15 feet like PADI recommends? It's also not a recreational dive if you use a large single tank or doubles?

I'm afraid I don't understand this logic.

Last time I checked, the NDL at 100 ft on 32% was 30 minutes. Do you do safety stops?

That's an asinine question. You obviously haven't read the entire thread.

Well, then I guess your instructor would rather do dives to 100-130 ft using nitrox just in case he can't control his buoyancy and wants to pop to the surface.

So instead of using skill to do the dive, he would rather use gear (in this case gas mixture) to compensate for lack of skill.

Interesting viewpoint on diving your instructor has. (But very common)

I read every post...I just don't understand why you think 30/30 is a technical dive when the same dive on 32% isn't....same profile, less narcosis, more remembering... sounds good to me.

You could also do the deco using EAN50 after running it through a planner like GAP. Why drag PADI into this?

Your the one taking a recreational dive and making it technical.

Think about the common denominator of the typical recreational diver. I don't see how this is a difficult concept to grasp. Don't you think there should be a line between the two considering our current standards of recreational diving?
