Not long after 9/11 two FBI agents came to my dive shop and asked me to report to them any suspicious characters inquiring about buying or learning to dive a rebreather. They were afraid someone could use it to sneak up under a ship to plant a mine.

I was going to report @Wibble but he never came by. :flagwaving:

Sooo you can't buy a used car or anything on Craigslist?
Technically, you can. But if you want to avoid unpleasant inquiries, you will run all transactions through the OFAC list, especially if you run a business or have received government warnings (like the business entity mentioned in this thread). More info:

Again, most of the stuff applies to businesses.

I looked up the spelling of the word for seizing something and seizure is what I found. One of the definitions however was also the medical version of seizure.

The smart thing to do would instead be to invite you for a walk (out of jail) if you agree to let them bug, track and surveil goods delivered to bespoke questionable customers, but ever since revolting against Her Majesty, Trampistan is not always on the same page as [the original] James Bond.

We now prefer to just break down doors at night in a surprise attack and shoot everyone possible (apparently)

So yeah recommend keeping that 'breather in a bulletproof Pelican or Yeti

You're smoking crack ;-)

Libya has been on the U.S. sanction list for a long time. If you don't want government scrutiny, you do not do any business that may trace your goods or services to Libya, especially after being warned about it.

Maybe [the person] just wanted to be secret patriot but it didn't work out? Coulda been a cool gig. Teach them to flush oxygen at 60 metres or something. After paying, of course

So I too misread this and thought it was about oxtox. FWIW, I had Customs in Tampa look at me side-eyed when I returned from the Cayman Islands with two rebreathers in tow. They told me that they were military grade equipment, yadda yadda yadda. Eventually they let me pass, my take-away was the guy was trying to show his buddies how much he knew.
