I don't think it's reasonable to expect a course/instructor to tell you ALL the stuff you shouldn't do. My question about drying sorb was exactly that, a question, not a suggestion.
Ummmm the drying (as well as repacking used) sorb ideas have actually killed people, mostly in the early 2000s before modern CCR instruction practices were developed. It's pretty high on the list of "lessons learned in blood" about what NOT to do. But apparently some instructors either don't know or gloss over these important bits.
 
For deeper/more serious stuff, I always have at least one new scrubber
I have no idea what you define as deeper or serious but assuming we're talking multiple hour dive and/or trimix depths... You really need to stop being so cheap on sorb, it's going to bite you in the arse someday.

"From the keg, to the scrubber, to the garbage" is the statement I tell my students. Seems simple enough.
