I recommend you switch to a "DIN" connection for your 1st stage, as opposed to the "yoke" style. Two major benefits: a strong threaded connection & a captured o-ring.

No more blown cylinder valve o-ring issues.

Best,
DSD

Been diving yoke since 1968,can't remember the last bad/blown o ring. I change them at VIP time unless I'm doing a lot of diving then they get changed again. If I'm going to NC paying to dive and traveling for example, the O rings get changed on the tanks I'm bring with me.

This whole thread is about lack of attention and maintain, and the predictable results.

Unless you live and dive where all they use is yoke...

Import/buy a couple of DIN-fitted cylinders ( with adapters ), and DIN-Dive your way to o-ring blissfullness...

And that ain't no yoke... :)

It's never too late to change, AD.

Now in my time, I've seen a few go. I reason that if there is a way to circumvent the "human factor," why not embrace it?

I thought about switching to din. I just don't see the benefit being worth the cost as of this moment. I've only had one o ring fail in a couple hundred dives I always have my pony with me so even at depth this would have been an inconvenience at most.

Most places I travel also use yoke as well, so unless the reg I wanted was only available in din then I wouldn't bother with adapters (which defeats the purpose neways right)

I have to call ahead to find out if DIN fitting tank is available because A-clamp is usually the most common form.
For A-clamp tank, the sealing O-ring is on the cylinder valve while it is on the 2nd stage for DIN. Every now and then I found the DIN O-ring is missing after the refilled!!
