Well people choose and have been choosing to use the sms100 on serious dives since its release with no affiliation to Hollis.

The sms100 is a good system with a few shortcomings, which the updated sms75 does a phenomenal job addressing.

Name some with no affiliation with Hollis. So far it's a group run by someone who isn't just a dealer, he "designed" a related rig for the company.

Hasn't used it since earlier than 2011; can't have been using it for long given the timing. Next?

No true Scotsman. Nothing I say counts or matters.

No system has ever been or will ever be add good as the Razor, and I wish I could be as great as you. Better?

Dude I'm not like that, really. I'm not beating up on you or your gear. I think you've said a lot of very helpful things here . I'm not saying the SMS is garbage. I'm trying to have a serious, fair conversation about it.

You have quite successfully proven by now that you are unable to do so :shakehead:

You have also shown you can do better, mind you, but at the moment you seem stuck somewhere.

Another question perhaps fitting this thread:
Would you do a dive in a mixed team of SMS users, Razor 2 and 2.1 users (and, because I gave up on fighting it will pop up everywhere now - Stealth 2.0s - and Mantas, Selfmades, Sandwich Wing Systems)?

I can only speak from my limited experience (recreational diving) but I do not see any problem on equal skill level with combining any 'current' sidemount system within a solid dive-plan without having to recognize differences at all.

This tells me that from my personal standpoint they are as identical as is relevant for me (again personally!! subjectively! but speaking from adequate experience, in my opinion).
I think I have shown I do see differences, relevance depends on dives, divers and skill-level.

Razorista-I think we established earlier that our posts aren't worth the time to read, so I don't bother. I happened to see my name in the first sentence of this one, but really I just skip over them.

Do so, it will make it much easier for you to keep up that image. :kiss2:

I find your feeling of superior importance hilarious. Do you really think anyone would communicate just to reach you personally?

But anyway: I am very sorry for you that I am unable to dislike people using sidemount as long as they do not disturb my dives.

I would have to agree that there's basically only one reason the SMS100 is a very common rig around the Florida caves.

It's got an incredibly effective marketing campaign going by someone who is selling tons of them, plus selling a lot of modifications on top of that.
So from looking at it, it's all about the money, not this being an all superiour dive rig.
Others brands have stuff that will work nicely too with steel tanks, for example the Halcyon Contour, the Armadillo and possibly the new Hog.

Having said that, virtually nobody in Florida uses a Razor, be it 2.1 or 2.0 because it simply sucks with the type (and amount) of tanks and gas used.
