Of course - there's no regulation that would prohibit it.

I mentioned it mostly to point out that the resort appears to have no interest whatsoever in competing with taxis. If they won't even take me to the airport, there's no way on earth they're going to pick people up there and run afoul of the taxi union.

Mawg - have you yourself actually been picked up at the airport by the Presidente car? If so, how long ago was it?

Yes, I have used that service ONCE and it was about 5 years ago, maybe a little longer. It is an option you have when you are a Priority Club member but it costs. IIRC, it was $31.00 per person. My wife checked when we were there last November and the Concierge said yes they were still offering the service for members. Didnt get a price though I'm sure it has gone up. It was nice but frankly I prefer the usual method, 12 people crammed into an eleven passenger Suburban with barely adequate AC system. I grab a cold beer sit back and enjoy the ride. It's fun to listen to the other peoples' comments, particularly the first timers.

"12 people crammed into an eleven passenger Suburban with barely adequate AC system" with 10 seat belts, after watching to make sure that all of your bags were put on the van and none removed before the doors were close - then watching to make sure none of your bags are dropped off prematurely at the wrong hotel. I've got to get some wheels for my other large bag so I can drag my collection out to the taxis.

Yep, I do all that, and cheerfully. It's far less trouble than schlepping 200 lbs of equipaje + carry-ons 100 yards out to the street. IMO the secret is attitude. YMMV.

You must be schlepping for several people or paying a lot of extra baggage fees.

Just the two of us; 2 bags apiece @50 lbs. each, and carry-ons. No extra fees (yet). "Traveling light" is not in our vocabulary. ;^)

Yes, well  this is the downside to airline Elite status and my attitude that I want to take everything I want to have. I check my home bud in with me so we're both allowed 2 - 70# bags plus a 40# roll-on that gets gate-checked out of Lubbock and a small backpack for laptop, cameas, meds, paperwork, etc. I can hit 200# alone without fees, but I can edit and email pics from the hotel, have my in-room coffee before I get dressed, supply air needs to anyone from my pony, replace several broken parts, wear fresh underwear and T-shirt every night at dinner, etc.

When I left on the first morning ferry to PDC last time, the porters were not working yet and I swore that would be the last trip for my large duffle with no wheels, but it is such a damned good bag. If I can add wheels to it and pull it with one hand, pull my roll-on with backpack with the other, I can put the other 70# bag on my back as it has straps for such. :D

I dunno, Don; that's starting to sound a lot like work to me... ;^)

Guys-------just FYI, the bag drag to the circle in front of the airport is over......police are patrolling and prohibiting taxis from circling around to fetch you when they see you leaving the shuttle area.......so let's just say that the "100 yard" distance is done. Obviously there is nothing illegal if you keep dragging and go across the street and down a bit on 65 avenue.....or hike awhile on the airport road towards the water, but seems like the shuttle company is winning this one......Betsy

I'll bet the shuttles are about to raise their prices.

Why do you say that? The police crack down on taxis picking up at the circle every once in a while; this is nothing new.
