What should cost be for shuttle van from airport to Vista Del Mar>

You have only three choices:
  1. Shuttle Vans
  2. Walk off property and hope a taxi happens to come by quickly
  3. Rent a car

Taxi's are NOT queued up outside the airport, it is ILLEGAL for them to do so...which I've always known and recently confirmed with the taxi base. So, it would be a matter of timing for you. You could get lucky and one may be driving by about the same time you are coming off airport property or you could end up waiting 10 to 20 minutes as you watch the white shuttle vans leave without you.

It's a personal preference as to what's more important to you...but it's not a race and everyone is in the same boat.

I WILL warn you about the "Tourist Advisory" guys in the airport. They ARE NOT there to "help" you. They are time share salesmen, period. If not interested in sitting through a timeshare presentation then say no thanks or ignore them. you do not need them to get a rental car or a shuttle ticket.

Have fun and good luck!

We have never waited more than 1 minute for a taxi after the 100 yd walk from the airport. They are always looking for a fare after they dropped someone off at the airport. Using a taxi means you don't have to wait in the hotel lobby behind a bunch of people to get your room because you beat them all there and can now have some guacamole and cerveza and relax. To each his own...........

Okay, what about two passengers with too much luggage to drag 100 yards? Could one stay with the bags, while the other walks out to hire a cab, then take the cab back to the terminal to pick up the other guy and bags - or does their union prohibit that...?

I'm pretty sure they are prohibited. That guy that mans the little shack on the left that you pass on the way out is looking to make sure taxis leaving the airport do not have any passengers.

You're looking at about $7-$8 per person. You'll be in your room enjoying a cold cervesa in less than a half hour from the time you step out of the airport.

Wait in line??? Honey, you're staying at the wrong hotel! But like you said, to each his own.

I'm not sure I would want to stay at a hotel that doesn't have a line to check in shortly after a large jetliner lands. I also try to avoid restaurants that are nearly empty during dinner hour, too.

That's what I figured. Wonder if the porter would wheel what I can't carry out there, and if so how much? I hate waiting on a full van, then riding all cramped as we stop at other hotels, having to get out to make sure my bags don't get left at wrong hotel - and paying more than the taxi charges. Seems like the van was $10 each to Caribe Blu and the taxi back was $10 for two of us if I remember correctly...??

If your baggage can be rolled, you can transport a lot of weight out to a taxi. Even if it takes you 10 min to make it out to the taxi area it is still cheaper and quicker than sitting in a van and waiting for others to clear customs or get their bags. Some people like to stand in lines for security reasons? Some people love the cattle boats. That is what is so great about SB. You can find out what floats your boat and what not to do without going through those unnecessary bad experiences.

The shuttle is hard for me too...but I use it as a reminder.....slow down.....no more hussle bussle....cozumel time now. RELAX!!!! No worries.....dont make a fuss, just get on the bus!!!
Meet new friends, laugh, ect.....doesnt matter how long it takes, the dive boat will still be at the dock at around the appointed time the next morning. Hope this talk helps you...its the one I give myself when Im at the airport, fussing about wanting to rush it.
Have fun!!

Thanks Gdog, but I prefer to slow down at the hotel. Until there, it's a mission for me. ;)
