This forum is designed with the idea that people who have taken the time and effort to achieve these cert levels have developed a sufficiently thick skin to participate here.

Unfortunately, some instructors don't require much time and effort to achieve tech certs anymore. You must have missed the thread about the DSAT guy who got his DSAT cert and instructor rating in the same week...

I must have missed it too. I can see how this could be possible and not a bad thing depending upon the diver. If that diver was already a tech instructor with another agency it is simply a crossover.

Care to expand on this diver & how this happened?

Peter Guy posted about it. I believe it was in the I2I forum. The guy was not a tech instructor prior to this. He had no tech experience at all.

I think the membership that has been established here should now have a say who the members are. Maybe a committee of 10 or a vote. I already see at least one member here that probably does not belong.

How will you verify who you let back here? It's pretty obvious who the regulars are that should be back here, but what about someone like Atomic Diver who tries to portray himself as a cave diver and tech diver yet only took his Basic Nitrox course just last December and has never taken an overhead course? Oh, and forged his temporary nitrox card by adding "Advanced" to it.

In order to keep this real back here, and with what I believe is the intention of this forum, there needs to be a process of verification for member requests. To get into the I2I forum we need to provide instructor numbers. To get my cave instructor badge, I had to scan my card and send it to Rick Murchison. Is there going to be a similar process for participation here?

that kid is dangerous. I've seen the card. it's laughable.

is it me, jim? it's me, isn't it? dammit, ratted out...

If anyone notices a member here that they feel doesn't belong, PM me so that I can review them. Be sure to include a reason or concern to help provide insight.

Remember that I copied several threads back here from the main board so ya'll would have something other than blank walls to look at. Those initial threads aren't necessarily a reflection of the user base.

No it wasn't you! I was mistaken anyway. I thought Atomic Diver was a member, but later realized he just had a post that was moved over here.

Although your avatar does not look like a baby Duck - it looks like a baby human :D
