I wonder if laughing gas could put us over the edge to hysterical? :rofl3:

I wonder if it would make a good mix gas for diving?

Shhhhhh... don't say that too loud. Someone will think you are serious and then you'll turn this thread into a discussion on diving safety- complete with put downs and calculations!

double bubble:
I was at the tubes saturday and the temp was 44

Did you happen to notice what the temp was at the big platform? That's where we'll be doing the carving. The tubes are 42-44 degrees year round but the shallows can get pretty warm.

I was quite surprised, I saw the warmest temp at the tubes today that I have ever seen - both thermometers anchored there said 51. Never saw it that warm before.

I was about ready to switch from the 7mm suit to my 3mm suit.

Other than there, the temp was pretty constant, no real noticeable thermocline. Water was about 66 at the surface, maybe a couple degrees cooler at the platform, but not much.

I couldn't finish our second dive because I was so cold today. I don't know if maybe all the water got mixed together for one cool dive site or what! But I've NEVER been that cold at Gilboa!

And I noticed that coming up from the tubes there was no "ahhhh... it's warm" feeling when you got back to the bus and the plane. I guess that thermocline really serves a purpose- I missed it! I wonder where it went!

Ken... you ARE nuts! 3 mm suit my patootey! I probably SHOULD have put your 3 mil on over my 7-6-5! But I was afraid I'd stretch out the calves!

 tg

All this talk of cold water is testing my resolve to get in another day of diving before the month's end.

All this talk about Gilboa and thermoclines makes me REALLY glad I'll be in FL in a couple of weeks!!! >:)
But one more weekend (this weekend) of OH quarry diving before the 80* waters of FL.
I'm disappointed I won't be here for the pumpkin carving, though! Not that I'm the "artsy, fartsy" type - I just enjoy the "art" that appears.

OK, I'll give you some warm water talk - that was the warmest I have ever seen it at the tubes!

51 degrees really isn't that cold eckybay... it's all in your mind. Think "hot chocolate..."

(It was 51 degrees at the tubes. Note to self: don't go to the tubes.)

I'm thinking of starting a thread here in the GLWC forum titled "Notso_Ken is Nuts" and see who chimes in...

lol . . .But my fullsuit is only a 5mm . . .granted, the hooded vest helps alot, but still...
I did get the okay from the doc to get my ears wet again today though, so atleast I have that going for me.
