For those that just throw Manatee bones away...here is what it looks like when you slice and polish them! However, they tend to have faults not visible from the surface that cause them to fragment.

That's pretty cool. What do you use to "slice" them and what do you use to "polish" them? I've left some pretty darn big bones down there.
 
I sent mine out to a place in texas. I assume they use a water cooled diamond saw blade and then a standard polishing wheel and grits.

Hummm now I think krawdady might be thinking. Jewerly? Drill two holes and so it will lay flat. Great idea guys.....
 
Thats a good idea FB but I'm thinking if you cut one into slices you could wear it as earrings. You would be the bell of the prehistoric ball. A modern day Wilma Flintstone.
