They might be nanny dogs in England, but I live here.

exactly, C...

it's not the dog. it's the owner.

any dog can be turned into a nasty, bitting hellion

would i go near a pitbull that is clearly aggressive and poorly
controlled? of course not

but i am not blaming that animal. i am blaming the ******* who
has either trained or allowed the animal to become thus

100% positive, not a shred of doubt in my mind.

Owner was fined and needs to have the dog muzzled and leashed from now on... haven't seen the dog since and i can only hope that it was put down. While i know that most of the problem lies in the training of a dog, you said it yourself, they are wild animals. I have met plenty of "tame" pits but I don't trust 'em

ok that is fine then, one bad apple....but put down? are you serious? you cannot be seriously thinking that?! please tell me you have more love for nature and animals than that?!

kill an other animal because it's doing what it was designed to do? to be a wild dog, to hunt to eat...to whatever? remember people, we are the ones infringing on their territory (as abstract as that might seem) they were here first, we are only on top of the food chain because we have bigger brains.

I have had a number of very close encounters with dogs in my life but I never "wished" or "hoped" for that animal to be put done just because it invaded my little space and made me feel uncomfortable.

this is the problem with humanity, this is what makes me sick - most people today are wanting, needing and requiring instant gratification and lack the brain power to understand their own actions and those that will fall in line after the initial action

I finally found that site I was looking for, here is a perfect example of how stupid these people really are that want to ban a single breed of animal (haven't we killed enough species already?!)...

On this page is a number of dogs that look very alike, I would like to see how many can actually distinguish the REAL pit bulls from all of them

...don't be shy - just honest!

Andy, who cares who is to blame? What are you going to accomplish by blaming the dog OR the person? I really am not getting it.....maybe I am so simple and practical, your point does not seem to serve any purpose. I have said a zillion times, I am not for the government banning much of anything. I think, I take care of myself.

was this directed at me? if yes, care to elaborate?

Tamas, I don't agree with you either.

well, addressing the real issue will lend itself to a real solution as opposed to
knee-jerk political pandering that accomplishes little or nothing

banning specific breeds totally misses the point that any dog can be
made vicious by irresponsible owners.

if you ban one breed, they'll come up with the next

it's very simple.......people go swimming/diving/surfing get attacked by a shark - we go and kill and bunch of sharks because they are bad and make them out to be cold blooded killers....people go hiking, get mauled by a bear - we go and kill bear(s) because they are killers of humans and must be stopped...shall I go on?!

dogs, any dogs are animals and as wild as their ancestors the wolfs! they live amongst us, we love them (well some of us) and we learn to live with them, but there are a few bad ones that all of a sudden give a breed a bad name, what do we do - we get rid of it thinking it will solve the problem. there have been many attacks on humans by dogs since we took them inside the caves with us, but it seems that it is only recently that some bozo's started crying about it and wanted to change things....but they only pick on one breed why?
