Storm:
As I am a new diver I really shouldn't comment ( according to those who say diver , with only 16 -50 dive don't count) but from my limited experience:

1) DI's who through their arrogance, lead new divers on "trust me" dives, cut corners and then when something goes wrong (as what happened on my AOW deep dive -- we got thought it but it scared the hell out of me), try to gloss it over by saying that my buddy and I did fine, given the circumstances.

2) New divers. like myself, who allow themselves to fall into the "he/she is a DI, is professional, and I should be able to trust them" trap (did that once will NEVER do that again.

3) 1000+ UBER divers who have fogotten what it was like to be new and therefore have no patience with new divers and thus do not even try to help out us newbies.

Actually it shouldn't matter how many dives you have Storm. You have eyes and can see things that are not right too. Your opinion counts.

yes, on that note:

1. Followers (maybe thats trust-me)
2. (violation) RINSE BUCKET INFRACTIONS

- Lying about health issues on release forms.

- Fabricating dive logs or dives in the logs.

[Sorry if these have appeared already....]

My only pet peeve about in the water stuff is

The buddy that likes to travel behind and above me.

hey Jeff, noted. we are calling that "BLIND SPOT CRUISERS"

If a non diver were considering diving, and were to read some of the opinions on this thread, they probably wouldn't dive due to the intimidation. Everyone started green, and those that have continued was probably due to the support of more experienced, and UNDERSTANDING divers.

I'm learning on every dive. Thank goodness I have people around me that are willing to help make me a better diver. Hopefully, I can help others along the way. Life is to short.

This is a great sport, and as Rodney King once said "Can't we all just get along?"

My brother does it once in a while. He then gets the techy are you OK signal (raised middle finger  )

how bout, people that signal in pilot lingo? looks like Greek to me. How much air? then I get some sign language like side ways M's. I just figure they are on their own at that point. .....thats what I say: If they fly planes, they are on their own!

Safety Issue pet peeves......

-Divers who venture way past the point of their training and experience levels, and cause other divers (me) to rescue their butts out of harms way because their buddy is just as dumb. The rescuer is often cursed with having seen the event unfold and has too guilty of a consience to look the other way.

-Divers who lie about their level of experience and training in order to "get included" on dives that they are dangerously inexperienced to do.

They are similar in nature, but occur at different places and settings.
