I've had zero issues with drop out on either computer. I do ever so rarely get a conflict on one of the computers but the signal returns in about 3-5 seconds.
This seems contradictory...how can you have a conflict with one transmitter? The computers only receive.
 
I was going to mount the transmitter directly to the first stage...would the short hose be better?
I like having it "tucked" in as well as being able to remove it easily for transport. It also removes the temptation for it to be grabbed. I do a fair amount of diving where one removes their rig for the boat driver to haul on board before one climbs up the ladder.

Many speciously worry about o-ring failures. But as noted it is specious simply because such o-rings rarely fail and it they do HP leaks are not catastrophic.
