I dove today at Pennyroyal in Hopkinsville, KY. I loved the park. The owner Dennis Tapp was friendly, knowledgeable, and ran a safe operation. We got out tanks filled too. We both dove our doubles to 83' for 54 mins. The water temp fluctuated from 59F to 50' as a sharp thermocline to 45F below 50'. The visibility was spectacular at 30-35'. The air temp was 35F and sunny.
We saw a great variety of excellently placed/roped items varying at depths from 15' to 109'. We saw a car, bus, helicopter, RV (huge catfish in the front seat), platforms, vans, bicycles, pipes, tractor tires, freezer, old giant TV and lots more. Entry was either a shallow entry with very flat entry stones or a quick giant stride to 95'.
The scenery above was also very beautiful. Upon surfacing we saw the ridge of the sheer walls full of vultures sunning themselves. It seemed like a wonderful place to spend a summer weekend.
We met 2 other divers who were friendly and invited us to a private quarry in Tennessee about 2 hrs away. We loved the hospitality!
