Using the name "HOG" of course deceives people into thinking it has something to do with "Hogarthian" - naughty.

That's what we in the business call "marketing" but, shhhhh... I've said too much already!

Using the name "HOG" of course deceives people into thinking it has something to do with "Hogarthian" - naughty. Whatever. How easy are the regs to service and are service kits available?

Disclaimer: I don't own a HOG regulator, so how easy or difficult they are to service is just speculation on my part.

That said, it does appear that they would be no more difficult to service than any similar balanced diaphragm first, balanced adjustable barrel poppet 2nd.... so, pretty danged easy?

Probably no "special factory tools" required, just a hook spanner for the first stage, then the rest ought to be pretty straight forward (using standard tools).

I have not seen a service manual yet... but based on their "factory of origin" and resemblance to other name brand regs, I'd make a wild guess and say a Dive Rite repair manual (available on the internet) will get you "in the ballpark" for the first stage overhaul procedure.... and I'm betting anyone who has worked on a current barrel poppet 2nd stage will not get too flustered by the HOG 2nd.....

Here is a link, with various HOG gear, including their regs, and if you scroll down, you'll find the service kits.

HOG Gear - Dive Right In Scuba - Plainfield, IL

Best wishes.

This is really increasing my desire to switch our entire fleet to HOG regs and take the service class.

Since you like your current SP regs, I would suggest that you just learn to work on those; there are plenty of excellent mentors around, the regs are not difficult to work on, and I have certainly had no problems finding parts. I suspect you won't either. There are manuals online, tools available at scubatools, and more free advice than you could ever want.
