Thanks for all the advise, opinions, etc. Now that I think about it, how many times do all the airlines misspell somes name, be it first, last or middle initial. They use computers but it's still humans imputing the info and we all make mistakes. Happens here at my office. It will ultimately come down to the photo and 99% of the names matching (ticket and passport) so I think I just rest easy....Thanks again Gordon (my home boy's got my back)...I am new to SB and didn't mean to do anything out-of-line. Certainly don't want to make Christi or any one else cringe.

Christi:
Thank you Gordon. Not only do I respect the board regs, but the intent of this board is not to conduct business and thus is not conducive as such. I actually cringe when someone addresses me on the board about diving reservations with my shop. It makes me very uncomfortable, and it's just not appropriate. This applies to the PM function as well...I don't answer reservation inquires or provide information on my shop by PM. My e-mail and website can be found by clicking on my name...it's all in my profile. Thanks in advance for not PM'ing me for business related stuff. I love participating on this board to provide a local's perspective, but anything specific to my shop...e-mail me :)
You really could put your web site in your signature.

I could...but in the past I still wasn't comfortable with it...I still thought it was too in peoples faces.

It's there now :)

Passports....women, never drop a last name. Just keep adding them, train fashion.
They are all just some man's name anyway...father...husband, x-husband :10:

This way...all your documents match.

Gawd, my daughter's mother couldn't get a passport big enough for all seven I don't think...?

My wife's passport has her maiden name on it, and it has been a non-issue for the last seven years a several international trips. My wife carries a copy of our marriage license, but no one has ever asked to see it. Immigration cares what is on your passport, but they're matching it to you, not some other ID. The TSA and the airlines just want your ticket to match some government ID. So, just use your DL for checkin and TSA screening.

Wayne, I hope that didn't come across wrong...you didn't know, now you do. No big deal...it's all a learning process :)

Chances are the airline will tell you it's not a big deal.

I don't agree completely. My travel agent used to use my middle intial, "A", and airline ticketing would sometimes miss the separation and add a small case "a" to end of my name.

After being held off of several flights to clear up the confusion, I told them to stop using the initial.

No problem here Chrisit. In fact, my wife and I will try to come by and say a very quick hello (I expect you will be very busy for Carnival) while we're there. Cozumel is so close and affordable for us as divers, this is the first of many trips. A trip there for one week of diving, believe it or not, is the same as going to Key Largo for one week, and in a better hotel. Here's softball I'll throw out there. How about it divers? the Florida Keys or Cozumel?

Just had to relate my latest airline name hassle.

Made reservations a couple of months ago to travel from Vancouver to Mexico next month. Had to call to make reservations as the web site was down. Never did get the tickets. Wasn't particularly worried - junk mail filters sometimes kill these theings so called the airline this AM to get them resend.

Found that they had mangled my email address - not even close to what I gave them not mixed letters or spelling - completely wrong. Gave them the new address, got the tickets a couple hours later. My ticket was right, but my partners ticket was wrong, my last name instead of hers and Suzanne not Susan for the first name.

Called the airline Grrrrrr.... Two hours later and two different supervisors I finally managed to get them to fix the error.

First agent - can't make that change that is a change to the ticket - this is a non refundable ticket. Explain that they filled the name in wrong and that this is the first time I have seen the ticket to find that out. Their error please fix. Finally he sends me to a supervisor. Ok I can understand that - he doesn't have the power to make that change.

First Supervisor was agent from hell. Don't care that this was our fault - can't make the change you can either buy a new ticket (and we will honour the price) or the original person can fly on the ticket. Long conversation about how this was their error. Finally I said if I call as for a ticket in the name of John Smith and you type in Joe Bloe you can't fix it even if I call you right back. Nope not possible she says. I am close to losing it - she is not backing down this is the rule don't care what the curcumstances are - you have to buy another ticket and can't get a refund on the old one. No other choices. THis was not even a heated conversation where someone generates a position early and can't back down ... just someone who follows the rules with no flexability at all.

Finally ... she allows me to talk to her supervisor. A very reasonable person - asks to see a copy of the email I say I just got, looks at the record of the changes to the file (the new email address) sees it has been about an hour since I got the EMail the first time I could possibly have seen the original ticket and fixes the problem.

Two hours of my time ... because the original ticket was handled by someone in a third world country who didn't speak english. Not likely to use that airline again.
