Octgal, you do realize that the avatar with the snorkel has to go now! :grip_n_ri

Curt Bowen:
Congrats

Now are you ready to push some virgin cave and lay some line? We can always find some new caves to explore someplace :)

HAHAHA Yeah sign me up Curt, I'll lay line in some virgin cave with you:D

I laughed at some of the reactions to Nick or caver95 being my instructor. He is honestly an absolutely excellent teacher, and everyone is right about picking the right person to have for cave as it makes a huge difference. Personally i wanted someone as tough as Nick for this. This is cave we are talking about and your life on the line, theres no room to be babysat. Anytime i ran into a problem, he stayed back and made me figure it out on my own, i also like that he never once helped me with my gear, even to lift it up for a second!. He is very concerned about the preservation of the caves, so banging my tank on the ceiling was a HUGE no no. I feel lucky that he took me to "hole in the wall" as its a very sensitive cave, and you must have yourself in check or you will ruin and destroy the cave, he must have thought i was good enough to take me. I laughed at his briefing before this dive "this is one of my favourite caves, so don't f... it up" LOL

Congratulation on passing your "Intro to Cave" Certification. I melsef passed my class not too long ago and can relate to some of the problems you mentioned, including getting pinned to the wall in the Devils ear.

All the best and good luck.

G.

Most definitely. Now I just have to get back in there before Madison takes over as my favorite [hmm... maybe friday!].

contrats on your class. Now just treat all your dives as if you're in a silty cave and you'll be ready to move on in no time!

Congrats!

Be glad you didnt try the ear in a DS, its a little harder to keep trim and work the reel - or so i have found so far, easy in regular no/light flow, but mean in that high near vertical flow!

It is a very beautiful and sensitive system. As a fellow cave instructor, and a long time diver in the Marianna area, it isn't one I feel is appropriate to be used as a training platform.

I agree, but he didn't take me there to train me, i had already passed at this point. I didn't touch a thing while I was there, so no worries everyone:D

Unfortunately you aren't the only student to have recently been taken into that system. I've been diving it for 10 years, and the amount of damage that has occured in the last 3 years or so is phenomenal. Hole in the Wall used to be one of my favorite dives- the sight of the damage to it recently sickens me.
